hes taught more students
than any other professor in the history of stanford university yes including the first daughter hes published hundreds of papers some the result of decades of research and yet hell always be best known for a little six day experiment he performed in the summer of 73 in the basement of the stanford psychology building the stanford prison experiment remains a seminal piece of research on the institutional forces that affect individual behavior a seminal piece of research on man the social animal after six days with a dozen college sophomores randomly assigned as guards and a dozen as prisoners after six days what started with laughter had turned so cruel with guards so sadistic and prisoners such victims |
after six days phil zimbardo the god of this little bubble universe intended to last fourteen days did what no god watching down on earth watching millions annihilated in genocide after genocide had ever done before he stepped in where hed said he wouldnt and said enough of course he did have a girlfriend later to be wife pointing out how wrong things had gone something the other supreme beings may have had to do without as a result of those six days we have the disemboweling knowledge of how easily our little civilization can crumble still in a golden state that has in the last decade built two new university campuses and twenty new prisons the truth is at least a place to start |
